Rx Divider Set

I remember the sound of vitamins being dropped into my Mom’s plastic pill divider set perfectly. I often think about the ritual of not only taking medications and vitamins, but the ritual of planning and filling the dividers for a week to come.

I have a complicated relationship with medications. Every morning I open the plastic containers and wonder why this moment of monotony is so unceremonious- like I want to do it quickly and not acknowledge it. It occurred to me that this moment of self-care every day should have some sort of ceremony or specialness involved.

Why not have my vitamins and medications in ornate gilded rococo jars that demand you open the lids with one pinky extended?

Enter: Soda fired jars set.

This set makes it the fanciest part of my day and celebrates the moment of pause and self-care that comes along with this ritual.

Each jar is stamped with topographical maps on the bottom, and has a pillow lid, which means that it is a hollow bulging shape that sits into the flange. The lids have a burst of good feelings inside with the hormone serotonin inscribes on the inside. They are decorated with botanicals and patterns, and all sit within an oval plate. All of the set is fired in a soda kiln, which creates the distinct surface, and you can read more about the process here. I love that I can interact with a new jar every day, and experience a different object each time.
